On my way to angel falls I decided to stop and check out the scenic parking. With a lake like this one you just can't pass up an opportunity to take it all in for a minute. The picture on the right is the plaque that is posted in front of the lake. The plaque says, "Mooselookmeguntic Lake is the largest of the Rangeley chain of lakes With a surface area of 14,101 acres." There is also a couple of stories that you can read when you see the full size image.
This picture of the lake was actually taken from the side of the road before I got to the scenic parking area. The clouds I thought were amazing on this day. Hard to get good pictures when there is an overcast. The wild flowers are in bloom and the lake in the background is spectacular. I like the stones that are standing up in front of the flowers. Remember you are free to download and use these pictures. I just ask that you leave a link to the blog.
Here is a picture of the lake still from a little bit of an angle but closer up. It is easy to see how large this lake is from this perspective. There are several islands on the lake. The names are listed on the plaque in the first picture of this post. The trees are so green. I guess that's why they call them evergreens. It was a nice place to stop and enjoy the scenery and stretch the legs.

A fun day at Cooz Canyon
What a great day to go to Cooz Canyon. Cooz Canyon is located in Byron Maine and is a campground. This campground as you can see has a lovely river with beautiful eroded riverbed rocks. The water level is low believe it or not. Usually this is a raging river with white water rapids. Since the rocks are so soft you can actually go down this river just with your body. I am not sure what they charge to camp there but, you can find out by visiting their site Cooz Canyon. You can see in the background of this picture there is a little waterfall. Normally that would just be another rapid.
Here is another picture of Cooz. This picture is taken looking downstream. You can really see how clean and clear the water is. Yes it is spring water feed from the mountains and from underground springs. Further down stream there is a big drop that is so deep that it is hard to measure. That would be where one of the underground springs come up. This water is very cold. Where the underground spring resides there is a cliff that people jump off that is about a 25 foot drop. I jumped off it years ago and when you hit the water the cold takes your breath away. A little scary at first thinking your too cold to move.
I could not resist taking this picture. Someone took the time to stack some rocks on a huge stone and it looked cool I thought. You can still see the mini waterfall in the background. I love when people have fun and are creative. Some may just see a pile of stones while I see artwork. If you are the one who stacked these stones I thank you. The water is so clean you can drink it right out of the stream. I filled my water bottle personally. When a lot of people are swimming in it I would make sure to get water from upstream. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. Feel free to comment and leave a link to your blog.

Trip To Angel Stream
What a beautiful day it was for a hike. This place is called Angel Falls and is located about 20 miles past Cooz Canyon in Maine. The water level was not real high since the summer has been pretty hot for around here. The water is so clear that you can see every detail through it
It was about 80 degrees that day with a nice cool breeze. The great thing about hiking out there was that you have plenty of water. This water comes down from the mountains when the ice melts so it is natural spring water and tastes great. Up the stream is a waterfall which unfortunately I did not get a picture of because the camera died.
The Picture to the right was taken from a different angle. I believe this picture had a better exposure. The angle of the light makes the green really pop in this image. The other image was a good closeup of the water. In this image the water looks a bit rust colored but, it is just the way the rocks on the bottom reflect of the water. I walked up the stream a little further and found out I was walking in the wrong direction to see the water fall. Still got some good pictures though and some exercise.
This is a picture of the path leading down to Angel Falls. I took this picture and cut it in half then flipped on half. That made it look like a path leading to two other paths. I thought it was cool looking but Shutter Stock did not like it. That does not surprise me in the least. This was the easy part of the path. I parked above the actual path and had to walk down a very steep hill which people where apparently driving down. That would have been nice to know. Getting back up the hill was enough exercise for just about anyone. Can't wait to go back in the fall and get some good leaf shots.
